Carsten Koerl has served as our Founder and Chief Executive Officer since our founding in 2001. Koerl also serves as Group Chief Executive Officer of Sports Statistics and Information Systems Ltd, a subsidiary of Sportradar. Prior to founding Sportradar, Koerl held a number of management positions within the software development and gaming industry, including betandwin Interactive Entertainment AG, an online betting company, which he founded in 1997. He holds a Master of Electronic and Microprocessor Engineering degree from the University for Applied Sciences in Konstanz.
Werner Becher is the Regional CEO for EMEA and LatAm for Sportradar. Becher oversees the growth, development, and execution of the company’s corporate strategy in the EMEA and LatAm regions. He was previously Sportradar’s Managing Director of US Betting, responsible for the company’s betting strategy in the US market. Prior to joining Sportradar, Becher served as CEO of Interwetten, where he managed the global strategic positioning of the sports betting operator, more than doubling the organization’s revenue during his seven-year tenure. Throughout his career, which spans more than 25 years, Becher has led the development of several highly successful software and digital companies within the IT business community, including spending eight years as CEO of Austrian IT service provider Adesso.
Eduard Blonk is the Chief Commercial Officer and Regional CEO, APAC, for Sportradar. Blonk leads the Global Commercial team, Sports Content & Partnerships, Marketing & Communication, and Integrity Services teams. He has been with Sportradar since 2015, predominantly as the Managing Director of Global Sales. Prior to joining Sportradar, he spent 18 years in a range of global sales and marketing management roles, working within the telecommunication and data communications industry across B2B and B2C organizations in the Netherlands, Germany, and the US, including Siemens Mobile, Siemens Communications, and Gigaset Communications. Blonk holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Business Economics degree from the Hague University of Applied Sciences.
Ben Burdsall has served as Sportradar’s Chief Technology Officer since January 2019. For over 20 years, Burdsall has held senior technology leadership positions, across a variety of industries. Prior to joining Sportradar, he was Chief Engineer and Chief Technology Officer of eCommerce at Worldpay, a global leader in payment processing, where he was responsible for the design-build-test of ecommerce gateways and the engineering organization. Burdsall also served as a member of the Board of Directors of The Consultant Practice LTD. Before his operating career began, Burdsall was a technology consultant for 16 years at PwC, Diamond Management, and Accenture. Burdsall holds a Master of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Bristol and a Master’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence and Image Process from ENST de Bretagne.
Rainer Geier is the Chief Product Officer for Sports Entertainment at Sportradar. Geier leads Sportradar’s Sports Entertainment unit, which includes AV, OTT, ad:s, and LAOLA1. Since joining the company, he has significantly upgraded Sportradar’s offering in the AV sports content sector by playing an instrumental part in delivering thousands of live broadcasts to the media and betting industries. He was also the driving force behind Sportradar’s own OTT offering, which delivers the industry’s most flexible OTT solution. Geier was one of the founding members of LAOLA1 and the sportsman media holding (which became part of the Sportradar group in 2016). He previously worked as Key Account Manager at Loyalty Partner and Head of Sponsoring at leading sports betting company, Bwin.
Alexander Gersh has served as our Chief Financial Officer since July 2020. Prior to joining Sportradar, Gersh served as Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Cazoo Ltd, an online only automotive retail start up, from May 2019 to June 2020 and Chief Financial Officer aboard of Betfair PLC and after the merger Paddy Power Betfair PLC, a sports betting and gaming company, from December 2012 to October 2018. Gersh has also served on the boards of directors of various companies in the retail and sports-betting industries, including The Restaurant Group since February 2020, Moss Bros Group PLC from June 2017 to July 2020, Paddy Power Betfair PLC from February 2016 to September 2018 and Betfair Group Ltd from December 2012 to February 2016. He also served on the Audit and Remuneration Committees of Moss Bros Group PLC from 2017 to 2020. Gersh holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the City University of New York, Baruch College, and is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of New York.
Ulrich Harmuth has served as our Chief Strategy Officer since December 2020. Prior to that, Harmuth served as our Managing Director of Digital and Managing Director of Corporate Development from March 2013 to December 2020. Prior to joining Sportradar, Harmuth served as a Private Equity Investment Advisor at EQT Partners from May 2011 to February 2013. Harmuth has also served on the Boards of Directors of various companies, including our subsidiaries, Datacentric, Sportradar US and Sportradar India. Harmuth holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from the Technical University Karlsruhe and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wuppertal, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from INSEAD.
Dr. Anja Martin is the Chief Regulatory & Compliance Officer of Sportradar. Martin leads Sportradar’s compliance efforts and oversees the company’s sports and data protection, regulatory affairs and licensing work. She previously served as Sportradar’s Director of Anti-Doping Services and still looks after the unit in her current role. Martin has more than 15 years of experience as in-house counsel, professor, and lawyer, specializing in sports law and sports management. Prior to joining Sportradar, Martin was a professor at the Macromedia University for Applied Sciences, where she focused on sport and events. Additionally, she was a member of the Ethics Committee of the German Football Association (DFB) and was the acting Managing Director of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), where she was responsible for the national fight against doping in Germany.
Nick Maywald is the Chief Product Officer for Sports Solutions at Sportradar. Maywald leads Sportradar’s Sports Solutions unit, which creates new products and services for sports organizations and offers an end-to-end platform designed to open new data and commercial video opportunities from federations to leagues and teams. Prior to joining Sportradar, Maywald was the Executive Chairman of Synergy Sports (which became part of the Sportradar group in 2021) and was the founder and CEO of SportingPulse, a company that simplified the process of managing membership, competitions, communication, and live scoring for national federations, professional leagues, and amateur associations around the world. Over the course of his career, Maywald has held numerous board and senior executive positions. He has also founded several technology businesses, including one of Australia’s largest sports digital media properties which was acquired by News Corporation.
Lynn S. McCreary has served as our Chief Legal Officer since June 2021. Prior to joining Sportradar, McCreary served as Chief Legal Officer, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary at Fiserv, Inc. a global fintech and payments company, from July 2013 to March 2021, serving as the company’s Deputy General Counsel from March 2010 to July 2013 and was a partner at Bryan Cave LLP from January 2003 to March 2010. McCreary has served on the Board of Directors of NMI Holdings, Inc. since May 2019, is on the Risk Committee, and is the Chairman of the Nominating and Governance Committee. McCreary holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from Western New England University and a Juris Doctor degree from Washburn University School of Law.
Warren Murphy is the Chief Product Officer for Betting & Gaming at Sportradar. Murphy manages a global team that helps deliver the industry’s most comprehensive offering of betting and gaming solutions, including Odds Services, Live Data, Managed Betting Services (including trading, risk management and turnkey platform betting services), Gaming Solutions and Betting Stimulation. Prior to Sportradar, he was CEO at The Sporting Group, a role he held for seven years. The company was backed by HgCapital and Murphy led the successful sale of the business in 2014. Previously, he was Head of New Product Development at Camelot and Senior Product Manager at Rank Hovis McDougall. Murphy began his career as Brand Manager at Bass Plc.
Arne Rees is the US CEO for Sportradar. Rees leads strategy and growth across Sportradar’s US business. He is also the Honorary US Chairman for Bundesliga. Previously, Rees worked as a partner at MSP Sports Capital and RSE Ventures, and at ESPN, where he worked as Chief of Staff for George Bodenheimer, oversaw international business development and ran the international broadband and wireless business, spanning five continents. Prior to ESPN, he spent five years as the head of strategy and business development for UEFA, worked at UBS Capital as an investment consultant, and was the director of business development for I-D Media.
